Live Your Dream
Our global volunteer organization is dedicated to helping women and teen girls facing obstacles to live their dreams through programs leading social and economic empowerment, such as Live Your Dream and Dream It Be It.
The Soroptimist Live Your Dream Awards is the signature project of Soroptimist International of Kitchener-Waterloo.
Nearly 1,500 women received a Soroptimist Live Your Dream Award last year across the globe. The Soroptimist Live Your Dream Awards are cash awards given to motivated women who are the primary financial supporters of their families. The recipients of the awards seek to improve their lives by getting additional skills, training, or education, but do not have the resources to do so. These case awards are meant to offset any costs associated with the recipient's efforts to attain a higher education, including tuition, books, supplies, childcare or transportation costs.
Women are eligible for a Live Your Dream Award of up to $1,000 if they:
- Are the primary financial provider for herself and dependents
- Have financial need
- Are continuing post-secondary education/vocational schooling
Apply for the Live Your Dream award for 2021 today! Deadline is November 15, 2020.
Live Your Dream 2020 Winner
Soroptimist International of Kitchener-Waterloo is pleased to announce our first Live Your Dream award of $1000 has been granted to Ms B of Kitchener on May 8, 2020. Ms B, a single mom, wanted a brighter future for her kids that her home country could not provide. Pregnant in her third trimester and with two young children under the age of five, she made the tough decision to leave her country to achieve the dream of a better life for her children. With determination and resilience, she continues to pursue her dream, tirelessly doing all she can through work and education, and using the available resources to achieve economic and sound financial independence. With her admiral work ethic, Ms B is a strong and positive role model for her children.
We celebrate and congratulate our very first recipient, Ms B, for her achievements, and wish her well in pursuing her dream of having a line of children's clothing.
